Watching kids is easy, but as we all know, raising kids is the hard part, with plenty of challenges and even more rewards. Most noble things in life require effort, and parenting, teaching, and being a student at BASIS DC require an extraordinary amount of effort. For all of these endeavors to succeed, it ‘takes a village’ of neighbors working together for the benefit of all: faculty and staff helping students; parents helping teachers and the kids; and these young people in turn, helping themselves and helping others.

Through our working together, we are building a local community and a healthy culture that over the days and decades ahead will have a positive impact throughout the world.

Your participation in BASIS DC is part of this process.

On behalf of the BASIS DC Boosters and the whole school community, thank you for your support and for your involvement in our little ‘village.’ Thank you for your help in building a community that is characterized by caring adults and well-cared-for students.

Tonight, is a celebration of everyone’s hard work, amazing talents, tremendous energy, extraordinary generosity, and steadfast service. Tonight, we celebrate the relationships and resources that make our community something we all relish, embrace, enjoy, and nurture.

Our village has come a long way over the last few years as a result of your commitment. I’m excited to see how that village continues to grow and improve to the benefit of all our students, faculty, staff, families, and even the neighbors that surround us in Washington, DC and beyond.
